This week at…Disney

26 Feb

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to my weekly update on everything that is going on at Walt Disney World. I will be summarising Disney news each week to help you to keep up-to-date with the exciting stories.

FastPass introduced to meet Mickey

First comes the news that Disney World is planning to introduce a FastPass system to Mickey Mouse. Guests at Magic Kingdom will soon be able to reserve a one-hour window to meet Mickey at his new house to avoid queues. This is the first time that a Disney Park has implemented the FastPass option to meet Disney Characters and is expected to arrive sometime this Spring.

Due to the expansion of Fantasyland, one of Mickey’s meet and greet outlets had to close. At the moment, guests can visit Mickey in Tomorrowland, near Space Mountain. Meet-and-greet experiences with the princesses are in Adventureland.

It’s To Infinity and Beyond at Epcot

The 18th Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival kicks off next week. During the annual festival, Epcot will be filled with millions of blooms that look just like everyone’s favourite Disney characters.

The exciting news is that for the first time ever some of the characters from Disney Pixar classics will be showcased, including characters from Toy Story and Cars. The highlights of this years festival are expected to be an 8ft topiary of Woody and a 7ft topiary of Buzz Lightyear.

ESPN brings big-time athletes to Hollywood Studios

More than 35 athletes and ESPN on-air talent are expected to attend Disney’s Hollywood Studios this weekend. Not only will guests be able to see and hear some of their favourite sports personalities but they will also be able to take part in an interactive ESPN Sportszone area, where the can test their skills at a wide variety of sports.

Some of the big names on the list this year include Chad Ochocinco (Bengals), Larry Fitzgerald (Cardinals), LaDainian Tomlinson (Jets), Cal Ripken, Jr., (MLB legend), Karl Malone (NBA legend), Mia Hamm (soccer star), Julius “Dr. J’’ Erving (NBA legend) and Urban Meyer (former Gators coach).

That’s covered the top news this week. I know one thing, I will definitely be visiting Epcot when I go on holiday, I can’t wait to see Woody and Buzz.
