This week at Disney!…

14 Mar

Hey Y’all,

Here is my weekly Disney feature – enjoy!

Epcot: Final topiaries in place

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is now complete as the final topiaries were put in place last night. Lotso, the strawberry scented bear from ‘Toy Story 3’ is now standing proudly next to Woody and Buzz Lightyear at the front of the park.

Characters from ‘Cars 2’ the upcoming animated sequel, have also been added near to the entrance of the theme park’s World Showcase. You can also see topiaries of Lightning McQueen and Mater beneath an archway. The Flower & Garden Festival, which began March 2, now has more than 70 character topiaries on display. The event runs through May 15.

Disney pulls the plug on Grad Night

Disney has announced that this year’s Grad Night celebrations at Magic Kingdom will sadly be the last. The increase in theme park attendance in the spring has made scheduling the event for high school seniors increasingly difficult.

These events in the past have seen performances from Britney Spears, Katy Perry, New Kinds on the Block, Ne-Yo and Backstreet Boys. The final Grad Night this year will be host to Pete Wentz, Taio Cruz and 3OH!3.

As an alternative, Disney are offering Florida school groups a special one-day ticket for $55 valid any time throughout the year.

Mars about Moms released in America

Mars Needs Moms was released on Friday, a 2011 animated sci-fi film based on the book by Berkeley Breathed.

The film follows a rebellious 9-year-old boy named Milo, who is just beginning summer. His mother gives him chores and tasks like weeding the garden or eating his vegetables. But after Milo tints his 5-year-old sister’s face purple, his mother sees no humour in this and sends him to his room. After a heated argument with his mother in which Milo says “I don’t see what’s so special about mothers!”, Milo is grounded for the rest of the summer. After falling asleep, Milo does not hear the rumble of the rocket landing outside. After, Martians enter Milo’s house and take away his mother, Milo realizes that he has to rescue her.
