This week at Disney!…

27 Mar

Here is my weekly round-up of cool things going on at Walt Disney World:

The latest on Mickey’s New Pad

They guys over at the Disney Parks Blog have been having a chat with the peeps at Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) about Mickey’s new pad. They said: “In keeping with the small-town theme of Main Street, U.S.A., Town Square Theater will take on the tradition of turn-of-the-Twentieth-century theaters that served as the center of excitement in small towns, offering thrills through vaudeville and other forms of entertainment.”

WDI has designed the experience to be magical for all and theme park guests will be able to go backstage to meet magician Mickey after his performance. The new meet and greet, and Mickey’s permanent home, is set to debut in April.

New Addition to Grand Floridian

Walt Disney World is preparing to build an addition to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the most expensive of the resort’s 17 hotels. A permit has been submitted to the South Florida Water Management District describing a six to seven story building which will be connected via a covered walkway to the existing building. Disney hasn’t yet released a statement as to what this new addition will house, but there is speculation that the building will be used for Disney Vacation Club time shares.

First Disney-branded app now on Android

Android smart phone users now can download the Radio Disney app that has been enjoyed by iPhone users for a long time. The Android app allows listeners to stream Radio Disney while multitasking with other apps on their phones. Users can request songs, keep up with Radio Disney events and even interact with the network’s DJs.

It also allows you to mark songs as your favorites and create lists of favorite songs. The app is free and available at the Android Marketplace.

That’s all from me this week!
