Hey Guys

Some more baby news from Busch Gardens!

On 27th December, Busch Gardens welcomed a new baby giraffe weighing approximately 127 pounds and 5 feet 7 inches tall. The newborn is the calf of father, Jafari, and mother, Tesa, who has previously given birth to four other calves at Busch Gardens.

Mother and baby are currently in an area out of guest view so they can be closely monitored by zoo staff to ensure the baby is nursing and growing properly. The duo will join the other animals on the Serengeti Plain in about three months.

Zombies join the fun at Howl-O-Scream

5 Oct

Guess what…Zombies have invaded Busch Gardens for Howl-O-Scream.

This year’s event, dubbed “Dark Side Of The Gardens,” features three new houses and the chance to experience Cheetah Hunt, the parks newest roller coaster.

Howl-O-Scream isn’t for the little ones. Busch Gardens says visitors can expect violence, gore and blood. If you’re in the mood for a scream, Busch Gardens has created three new haunted houses for 2011:

Nevermore – “Beating hearts, swinging pendulums and a raven’s cries haunt the manor of Lenore, creating a demented and twisted nightmare. Step inside to experience the gothic terror that maddens the lord of the house and feel delusion overcome reality. Find your way out of this horror story before paranoia authors your final chapter.”

Zombie Mortuary – “No one remembers how the epidemic started, but now, zombies live here. The undead that infest this small town funeral home feed on the fresh flesh and brains of mortuary mourners to satisfy their insatiable hunger. Avoid the walking dead or you may find yourself deeper than six feet under.”

Ultimate Gamble: Vampire Casino – “Fanged fiends entice you to test your luck in this sultry hangout straight from Sin City. The seductive games and high-stake thrills at Reviver Casino are sure to get your blood pumping, but will you escape before your luck gets drained? Just stay away from the killer All-THEY-Can-Eat buffet.”

Busch Gardens also brings back the Nightshade Toy Factory, Death Row Vengeance: Fear the Dead, and Deconstruction: The Doctor Is Out Of Control houses. Also returning, Alone, which the name suggests is to be tackled on your own. This experience does cost extra.

Howl-O-Scream also features two shows as well as several of Busch Garden’s roller coasters, including the recently-opened Cheetah Hunt.

Busch Gardens – Iceploration

9 Sep

Busch Gardens will perform a new ice skating show early next year called “Iceploration” which will feature live animals, large puppets, acrobats and more.

The show is scheduled to make its debut in the theme park’s Moroccan Palace on 12th February 2012.

Busch Gardens President Jim Dean revealed details about the show at a news conference on Thursday at the theme park, calling it the “biggest show in the park’s history.”

“It takes all of the shows we’ve ever had and combines them into one adventure,” he said.

The 30-minute ice show is about a digitally-savvy boy named Austin who puts down his gadgets to travel the world with his grandfather. The adventure takes them to African Serengeti, the Great Barrier Reef, the Arctic and the Amazon Rainforest, where skaters, acrobats, larger than life puppets, set designs, lighting and projections will tell the story of the duo’s adventures around the globe.

It will feature 20 performers, some dressed in animal costumes, including dragonflies and rainforest frogs, who made a brief appearance at Thursday’s presentation.

Two Siberian huskies, Shivers and Journey, also will be a regular part of the show. Other animals in the show include macaws, a Siberian lynx and whooping cranes. The performance also will feature a new signature song called “Meet the World.”
